Our Tasting Room
Large and spacious with a tasting counter able to hold 12-20 people, our tasting room is one of the largest in the area. Capable of holding 40-50 people it is packed full of fun and interesting merchandise. A view of our production room can be seen from it, where if you visit during the harvest season of late August and early September you can watch the wine process. Off the tasting room there is a large portico with several tables for picnickers, and also a picnic area with spanning views of several mountain ranges in the area. We invite you to visit and enjoy a tasting!
Daily Wine Tastings
Our daily tastings offer a selection of our wines for that day, set up in a flight of four.
Whether you come alone or with a large group, everyone is welcome at Sonoita Vineyards for a wine tasting! Our friendly Tasting Room personnel will provide a detailed description of each wine and answer questions you might have regarding our wine production.
The Sonoita Vineyards Tasting Room is open daily from 10:00am to 4:00pm, but CLOSED TUESDAYS.
We are closed for the major holidays. We look forward to seeing you very soon! Please note that we do reserve the right to deny service to anyone at any time for anything; such as: over intoxication or disorderly conduct.
Prices
$20 per person which includes a souvenir glass.
$15 per person if you bring in a glass from any other Local Sonoita/Elgin Winery.
For Large Groups
We don’t require reservations but we do ask that large groups of 8 or more call us a day or two in advance so we can plan accordingly to accommodate your group, especially during the peak seasons and days. Our tasting counter can handle about 12 people comfortably, and our tasting room is large enough for about 40 people comfortably to mill around and visit the tasting table for pours.
For Tour Companies
Please contact us to coordinate your visit. We can not promise that if you arrive during a peak time we’ll be able to handle your group.
Wine Tasting FAQs
What day/time of day is the best to visit?
For more one-on-one time with our Wine Consultants we suggest visiting Monday-Thursday on non-Holiday weeks. Saturdays and Sunday afternoons are the busiest times for us. Currently CLOSED on Tuesdays.
I’ve never been to a wine tasting. What should I expect?
Expect wine, information and fun! We expect you to be a calm and considerate visitor to our winery. We are a working winery and vineyard, so you might hear loud noises, smell interesting smells and experience some wildlife as our production room floor is attached to our tasting room.
Can we bring our pet?
Short answer: yes. Long answer: Any animals must be on a leash and supervised. No animals are allowed in the tasting room unless they are service animals.
Do you have any Bilingual employees?
Teresa Molina has joined Team Sonoita Vineyards and is bilingual in Spanish.
Do you know of places that offer chauffeured wine tours of all the wineries in the area?
There are a few fantastic services in the area which offer wine tours. Please see our Sonoita & Elgin Service Page.
What time of year is the best time to visit?
Whenever you’re in the area! The Sonoita/Elgin seasons run the gamut from clear, hot days to chillier, snowy days. July to early September is our monsoon season, so if you’re used to our usual golden grass we invite you to visit during any of those months for a slightly greener perspective.
What time of year is the busiest?
Our busiest time of year is from November to early May. But that doesn’t mean we can’t fit you in!
